They had the same friends.

When he met her, he thought, "She's cute, but she's too flighty for me."

When she met him, she thought, "He's hot, but he's too flighty for me."

They continued going to the same parties.  She continued being with guys who took advantage of her.  He continued telling his friends that he wasn't going to date until he was 18.  His parents made that rule, and he intended to follow it.

She was getting sick of the boys who only wanted her body.  She threw a party by her pool, and she made sure he was invited.  He was beginning to see past her flightiness.

They sat together under the hot summer sun.  She put her head on his shoulder.  He didn't pull away.  When she told him that she wanted to be with him, he told her the same.

They held hands at school, sometimes they skipped class together.  He wouldn't kiss her, he wanted to wait.  She didn't see the point.  She grew frustrated at being pushed away.  She began to dress more provocatively, she started to touch him flirtatiously.  He would not be able to resist her.  His lips would find their place on hers, she would see to it.

It was a difficult time for her.  She quit her job so she could finish school early.  Her looks were suffering, her hair was greasy, her face full of acne.  But she showed her belly with pride, and he loved feeling the movement inside her.  When his ten pound baby was born, he made the announcement as a proud new father.

Soon, he would stop giving her child support.  He would stop making payments on the car her parents co-signed for.  He would tell her that she was too needy, and he would disappear.

He thinks he's going to die alone.

Ah, very nice. I thinks I know the secret to these lucky charms, too. But I won't dare tell!
